What if the Word of God was Translated into Every Language?
“After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands…” Revelation 7:9 (ESV)
Scripture makes it very clear that the Word of God was intended for all people of all nations, tongues and tribes. Revelation 7:9 paints the picture of a multitude of Image-bearers, standing before the throne, representing the cultural richness in God’s creation of mankind. However, there are still thousands of unreached and unengaged people and language groups across the world.
According to joshuaproject.net, of the 17,423 people groups worldwide, 7,402 of these are unreached. That’s over 3.22 billion people who have never heard the truth of Jesus Christ. So, how is it that members from every people group will be standing in front of the throne, worshiping as members of One body under One headship?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 (ESV)
The Body. We believers have been given the mandate of the Great Commission which admonishes us to be sharers of the Gospel. We who hold the truth are responsible to share it, despite the cultural or linguistic barriers that present themselves.
Faith Comes By Hearing is aimed at doing just that. Their mission is to get God’s word to every person and see the Great Commission fulfilled.
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:14
With Matthew 24:14 in mind, they’ve developed Vision 2033: “to partner with like-minded ministries to record Scripture in every language of the world that needs it by the year 2033 and make these recording freely available by every means possible.” Their approach to Scripture translation, however, is unique. They recognize that “70% of the world's population lives in oral cultures and 50% cannot read at a functional level.” With this knowledge, FCBH has worked to produce top-notch Audio Bibles.
By 2033 they pray to see “a New Testament recording in the heart language of 99% of the people in the world,” “a Scripture portion recorded for the remaining 1% of people in their heart language,” and “a Gospel Film in the heart language of everyone in the world.”
To date, Faith Comes By Hearing has Bible recordings in 1356 different languages. And this is just the beginning. ONE and Faith Comes By Hearing have partnered together to further Scripture translation and Scripture engagement.
